Where I Am And What I Am Doing
I still get this question from some of my friends all over the globe. I had thought that my fb posts would help clearly communicate what I’m up to but apparently that is not the case. So here’s a video and a blog post to explain what I am and will be doing for the next 15 months. :)
I am in San Antonio, TX working with a ministry called Pais Project(www.paisproject.com) that partners with local churches to disciple highschool students. My team is partnered with Oak Hills Church and we chase students, point them to Jesus and walk alongside them in discipleship. We do this by meeting up with the students before and after school (other Pais teams get to run lunch clubs and teach classes at school, but my team isn’t allowed to be inside the school during school hours), hanging-out with them and their friends and family, having mentoring sessions and bible studies, serving their schools and community and basically just living life with them just like what Jesus did with his 12 disciples. In summary, I get to do everyday what I used to do during my day-off when I used to work in the corporate world! I get to do what I love to do for the One I love and I AM ABSOLUTELY ENJOYING every single minute of it.
For this semester, my team will focus on helping our students think biblically by carefully expositing the Scriptures. We will also help our students discover their God-given passions and gifts to be used for God’s glory, their joy and the joy of the peoples whom they will reach-out to.
I tell everyone that this is literally a dream come true and an answered prayer. What I am doing now is exactly what I had in mind 2 years ago when I left Manila to do missions. I believe in missions. I believe in the importance of discipleship and community (local church). I believe in the youth. And I believe in God who is in a business of making disciples. So… here’s to a life that has no time for trifling!
